Beeswax Candles

Why These Candles

REAL BEESWAX CANDLES FROM A HONEY COMPANY

Our family has bottled and sold honey in Utah for 21 years. These candles are 100% American beeswax from our long-term beekeeping partners, made in small batches in the USA, with a cotton wick and nothing else in the recipe.

WHAT REAL BEESWAX GIVES YOU

The glow is the first thing people notice: a warm, steady flame, and undyed wax that runs pale yellow to deep gold, a little different every batch because it follows the honey the bees were making that season. Yours may run a little paler than a bright photo; that's the wax being wax. The scent is the second thing. A light, natural honey smell comes from the wax itself, not from added fragrance oils. You'll catch it up close and while the candle burns; it won't fill the whole house, and that's the point of an unscented candle.

And it lasts. Beeswax is dense and melts around 145°F, warmer than the soft soy and paraffin waxes in most candles, so it gives way slowly instead of puddling fast. The wider the candle, the longer it burns. If a soft white film shows up on yours after a few weeks, that's bloom, the wax's natural oils rising to the surface. It's normal for real beeswax: buff it off with a soft cloth or leave the frosted look alone.

"Beautiful candles, light scent of honey and packed well. No candles broken and arrived quickly."

PICK THE SHAPE FOR THE JOB

The 2 inch and 3 inch pillars are the everyday burners, the ones that live on the counter and come out night after night. Beeswax taper candles belong on a dinner table (the 8 inch pair burns longest), and tea lights are the easiest way to try real beeswax or to line an event table with it.

The shaped candles are the gifts: the pure beeswax skep hive, the embossed honeycomb, and the seasonal pours people tuck into stockings and set along a holiday table. They're true minis, made for an evening or two of glow, so peek at the dimensions before you order. The skep even comes in a set of 20 for favor tables. And when the power goes out, the Prepper Emergency candle is the one we point people to.

"These special little candles are going to be a beautiful addition to my Christmas table. I love that each one is ever so slightly different from the other, making a sweet little mini forest of trees."

BEESWAX CANDLE QUESTIONS

Are these really 100% beeswax?

Yes. Every candle here is 100% American beeswax with a cotton wick, never a paraffin or soy blend. There's no rule that stops a mostly-paraffin candle from wearing the words "beeswax candle," which is why we put 100% in every product title and stand behind it. Real beeswax is golden, smells faintly of honey, and often grows that soft white bloom over time.

Are they scented or unscented?

Unscented by design. The light honey scent comes from the beeswax itself, and it varies a little with the honey the bees were working from. Most folks describe it as a faint, warm honey smell rather than a room-filling one. If you want a candle that perfumes the whole house, a scented soy candle will do that job better; this one is for people who'd rather have no added fragrance at all.

Do beeswax candles purify the air?

No. That claim gets repeated all over the candle world, but the most thorough controlled study of candle emissions, one that compared five waxes including beeswax and paraffin, found no meaningful difference between them. A candle is a small open flame, not an air purifier. Beeswax earns its keep with the slow burn, the honey scent, and the short recipe: here's what beeswax candles are actually good at.

Why does real beeswax cost more?

Because bees eat 6 to 8 pounds of honey to make a single pound of wax, beeswax has always been the scarce wax. It also burns slower than the soft waxes, so one candle covers more evenings than the sticker suggests. We keep ours affordable on purpose: most of the singles on this page are under $20, and the little ones start at $5.

How do I get the longest burn out of one?

Three habits. Give the first burn enough time for the melted wax to reach the outer edge, about 3 hours for most sizes, so the candle never starts tunneling. Trim the wick to about a quarter inch before each burn. And keep it out of drafts; still air keeps the flame steady and the wax where it belongs.

Are they made in the USA?

Yes. They're handmade in small batches in the USA, and the beeswax is 100% American, from our long-term beekeeping partners.
